Southend Road Car Smash Leaves Two in Hospital

A serious traffic accident saw Southend Road in Billericay closed for four hours on Friday night.
Fire crews had to cut an 11-year-old boy free from wreckage of his family car, after it was involved in a collision with a motorcycle. After being freed from the vehicle the boy was initially taken to Basildon Hospital before being transferred to Kings Hospital in London, where his condition is described as "serious but stable".
The injured boy's father and brother escaped the collision unscathed, while the motorcyclist suffered broken bones in his hands, back and leg injuries and concussion.
