Truancy Soars At Ctays Hill Primary

Shocking new statistics have revealed the extent of the truancy problem at Crays Hill Primary School.
"worst truancy rates in Essex"
The school has the dubious distinction of seeing the highest rates recorded by any primary school in Essex, with almost half the pupils not attending each day and close to a quarter being neither advised nor authorised.
The latest results reveal not only a sharp year-on-year increase for the school, with general absence levels of 45.6% (up from 7.2%) and truancy at 22% (up from 4%), but also a stark contrast to average levels for the entire county, which stand at 5% and 0.4% respectively.
"failing their children"
Commenting on the figures, local MP John Baron said "These figures prove that the travellers can't have it both ways. One of the key reasons they claim they should be granted planning permission is to educate their children, but their children's attendance record at the school is very poor. The parents are failing in their duty to their children."
