Schools' Ministry Billericay (SMB)

Published: 20th January 2008 18:26

Schools' Ministry Billericay (SMB) was established in 1992 to meet the needs of children and young people in schools. SMB has subsequently been actively involved in most of the local primary and secondary schools.

As part of Churches Together in Billericay, SMB is resourced in partnership with Viz-A-Viz and employs two part time Schools' Workers. Viz-A-Viz is a registered charity, (number 1031486), based in Basildon and is committed to communicating the Christian message in a relevant way and helping the church to do the same. They have extensive experience of working in both primary and secondary schools locally and nationally.

Sue Reader and Jane Andrews - Schools' Workers/Team Leaders

Sue and Jane joined SMB in August 2005. They aim to bring the reality of Jesus to the young people in the schools and create bridges between those schools and the local churches.

They achieve this in a variety of ways using assemblies, lessons and lunch time clubs including Alf, Bible Explorer, Youth Alpha and whatever God inspires them with.

"Although we can't preach in schools God has given us so many opportunities to share our faith with the young people in this town in a real and exciting way".
