New Homeopathic College Opens in Tonbridge, Kent
Open Day September 5th, 10 am - 4pm
The shared vision of bringing homeopathy to a wider public audience has led three local homeopaths - Uli Holzer, Mary Ellis and Val Lawrence - to set up the Southern College of Homeopathy in Tonbridge, Kent. Their goal is to produce homeopaths of an exceptional standard and to support them in building successful practices. They also hope to see the College become a resource centre for local homeopaths and a centre of information for the general public.
Although there are many excellent homeopaths in the UK, not all of them achieve the success they deserve. Too many struggle to build thriving practices because they did not receive the necessary training in business and marketing skills during their training. At the Southern College of Homeopathy, we are committed to helping each student become a unique practitioner based on an excellent knowledge of homeopathy and to providing them with the tools to build and sustain their homeopathic practice.
In March 2010, we plan to open a low-cost student clinic for the general public so that students can gain ‘hands on' training by providing homeopathic treatment to people who might otherwise be unable to afford it. Although the patient will be seen by a student practitioner, the low-cost clinic will be supervised by qualified and experienced homeopathic practitioners. At the Southern College of Homeopathy, we believe that practical, 'hands on' experience within a clinic is absolutely essential to becoming a truly confident homeopath and is why we place great emphasis on the clinical training our students receive.
At the Southern College of Homeopathy, we would also like local homeopaths to help us develop a homeopathic resource centre at the College for both the wider community and themselves. We eagerly welcome any suggestions from our fellow homeopaths as to what they would consider useful. We have already planned several excellent CPD (continuing professional development) days. Further information about these can be obtained by phoning us on the numbers below.
We decided to set up our college in Tonbridge, Kent, because previously anyone from Kent, Surrey and surrounding areas, wishing to train as a homeopath had to travel outside the county to the nearest homeopathic colleges either in London or on the Sussex coast. As most courses last four years, this adds up to a substantial amount of time spent travelling. When we ‘found' The Inner Centre and saw the wonderful light and airy rooms, we knew we had made the right choice to be based in Tonbridge. There was also the added bonus of the renowned Helios Homeopathic Pharmacy being based nearby in the neighbouring town of Tunbridge Wells.
Our passion is to see Homeopathy used even more widely than it is at the present time. We strongly believe that the Southern College of Homeopathy can contribute to this goal by providing homeopaths with excellent training and practical support in building their practices.
