About the Academy:
The Yushikai Karate Academy was established in 1994 by Dave Paulus. Over the years, the club has gone from strength to strength, producing many Black Belts and National Champions and is now the largest Karate Club in Billericay. The club is affiliated directly with the Japan Karate Association England (JKAE) and enjoys regular visits from top Japanese Instructor, Sensei Yoshinobu Ohta (6th Dan).
Chief Instructor Dave Paulus has been training in Shotokan Karate for over 20 years and is now a 4th Dan, having passed the gruelling examination in Tokyo in 2007. The club is now based from their own full time training facility (Dojo), which is located at Unit 14A (Behind APEX House), Radford Crescent, Billericay, Essex CM12 0DG. Classes are held daily and there are a wide range of programmes designed to suit all ages and abilities. 
The Aademy's specialist programme for 4 & 5 year olds (Lil' Dragons) is a great introduction to the Martial Arts and teaches basic Karate techniques, motor skills such as balance, co-ordination etc as well as life skills. Its Shotokan Karate classes are suitable for everyone (ages 6 years and above) and our membership ranges from 6 to 60 year olds. Although the Academy have Adult Only classes, quite a few parents choose to attend the children's classes and train with their child.
The spacious new Dojo features a reception/waiting area, a large matted training area complete with punch/kick bags, treadmill, stretching aid and a range of other training equipment as well as Male and Female changing facilities and showers. In addition to the daily classes held at the Yushikai Dojo, Dave Paulus teaches before and after school Karate classes at
Brightside Primary School, Sunnymede Junior School, Sunnymede Infant School, South Green Infant School and Quilters Primary School.
