Billericay Town 3-2 Wealdstone
Just 2 games into the new season and Billericay's squad is already plagued by injuries. Accordingly the team's Saturday afternoon comeback from a 2-0 deficit at half time showed a dogged determination and belied a treatment room filled with 6 first team regulars.
After a tight first 30 minutes, Wealdstone began to take control and cemented this dominance with 2 goals in quick succession.
The Blues however, returned from the half time interval with renewed purpose and quickly halved the deficit through a Billy Bricknell strike. Continuing to press the opposition's goal, Billericay rattled the Wealdstone crossbar through Paul Shave, before Bricknell levelled the score and then hit the bar himself shortly after.
Shave's late header took the points, however a fight between Blues keeper Ronnie Worster and Wealdstone's Dean Papali, saw both men dismissed before the final whistle.
Canvey Island 4-0 Billericay Town
Billericay's Bank Holiday trip to local rivals Canvey, saw the squad's injury problems exposed with brutal efficiency.
Defensive frailties were evident as the home side grabbed two set-piece goals during the first half before an improved performance in the second period collapsed as Canvey grabbed a further 2 late goals.
The Blues are back in action on Saturday with a home tie against Carshalton Atheletic.
