Billericay Town 2 - 2 Carshalton Athletic
New Lodge hosted a hard-fought but entertaining draw on Saturday as Billericay hosted Carshalton Athletic.
The visitors took the initiative from the kick-off and were unlucky not to take the lead during the first half, although as the game progressed the Blues played themselves into the game, creating good chances for both Bradley Woods-Garness and Steven Ferguson.
Nevertheless the interval was reached with both teams still goalless and it was not until shortly into the second period that the deadlock was broken.Carshalton's Paul Honey unlocked the Blues' defence with a with a perfect pass and Richard Jolly ran on to lob Billericay 'keeper Jack Buckfield. The goal seemed to stun the home side initially, but gradually Billericay began to turn the game back in their favour and eventually grabbed the lead with strikes from Marc Clarey and Billy Bricknell.
Any thoughts of a victory to wipe away the memory of the Bank Holiday mauling by Canvey didn't last long for Billericay and Jolly popped up again before full time to grab a deserved equaliser.
