AFC Hornchurch 1 - 1 Billericay Town
Billericay's September 20th visit to AFC Hornchurch saw the Blues gain a creditable point in an away fixture in which they often struggle to earn a result.
A bright start by the visitors saw them take the lead as early as the 5th minute when teen scoring sensation, Billy Bricknell, curled the ball into the Hornchurch net. The Blues grew in confidence and continued to have the best of the game throughout the first period and into the early stages of the second, leading the home side's management make treble substitution shortly after the interval.
The move proved vital to Hornchurch, sparking an improvement in their performance which resulted in a Andy Tomlinson equaliser.

This league encounter represented the first of two clashes between these sides inside a week, with Billericay pleased to draw first blood and earn their first league win since the away day victory at Hendon 3 weeks earlier.
A hard-fought encounter was actually settled in bizarre circumstances as Sutton keeper, Paul Nicholls, delayed a kick up-field before succeeding in only directing the ball straight to Joe Flack on the edge of his own box. Flack rolled the ball to strike partner Billy Bricknell, who stroked the ball home for his tenth strike of the season.

Unfortunately the good fortune that shone on the Blues during the League fixture four days earlier was not repeated in the FA Cup 2nd Qualifying round tie on Saturday, 27th September.
An impressive first half performance had everything except the all important goal that the Essex side's play deserved, but ultimately the Blues were made to pay for their failure to convert.
Two second half strikes by the home side did lead to the visitors briefly rallying with a Dave Wareham strike halving the deficit. However the dismissal of defender Lynvall Duncan for a second bookable offence, signalled the end of Billericay's fightback. The 10 men had to press for an equaliser and therefore left themselves open to counter-attacks by United. A goal by Sutton's McCallum rounded off the scoring shortly before the full-time whistle.
