The Plotland Museum

Langdon Hills Conservation Centre and Nature Reserve's is situated off of the Lower Dunton Road, north of Horndon-on-the-Hill. Bridleways and long established tracks guide visitors around the site which features meadows, a pond and different ancient woods. However, possibly "the jewel" in the reserves crown is the Plotlands Museum.

This original 1930's plotland bungalow, called the Haven, has been lovingly restored and represents an amazing time capsule of an era since passed.
Around 50,000 small plots of land were sold off between the two world wars, with promises, to the largely London-based buyers, of the health benefits of the fresh Dunton air and the opportunity to build "dream homes overlooking the Thames".
With a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, one of the last remaining wooden bungalows from that era has been restored and through a visit to this single-storey two-roomed home, you can now get a taste of the type of existence, original owner and builder, East End carpenter Fred Mills and his family experience during their 40 year occupation.
