The BTCV Green Gym

The BTCV Green Gym is a way to get fit and healthy whilst volunteering outdoors. All sessions are free, and local work involves allotment gardening and conservation tasks. You don't need to know anything about conservation or working outdoors. You just need some clothes you don't mind getting dirty, some suitable footwear and BTCV will provide tools and other equipment. Be prepared to learn new things, make new friends, have fun and get dirty. Extensive research by BTCV shows that the physical benefits of participating in a Green Gym are equal to or better than a step aerobics class. Also, research shows that people with mental health problems feel better in themselves having been outdoors enjoying green spaces.
