Upshire Primary School in Waltham Abbey now have an on-site defibrillator thanks to the generous sponsorship of local business Roof-Link Industrial and Commercial Limited.
Headteacher of Upshire School, Jackie Blackburn explained: "Following First Aid training earlier this year, a demonstration showed us how easy these machines are to use. We are grateful to Roof-Link for ensuring that we are now able to deal with specific medical emergencies as effectively as possible".
Whilst a number of staff at the school have been trained to use the defibrillator, the device itself explains step by step what to do making it accessible for use by anyone. It is not only available for people on the school premises, but also those in the nearby vicinity should the need arise.
Michael Hockley of Roof-Link, based in Eastbrook Road, Waltham Abbey said: "We feel that it is important to support our local community. It’s our pleasure to have been able to provide Upshire School with such a vital piece of equipment and we would like to see more of these units available throughout the area".
Defibrillators save precious minutes in the treatment of sudden cardiac arrest and help to keep the patient alive whilst waiting for an ambulance. This equipment are easy to use and have audio or visual instructions.
