A weekend to remember for local Waltham Abbey 18 year old Ginetta racing driver Ben Green of Super Green Racing as he achieved a Double Podium at Knockhill Racing Circuit in Round 5 of the Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup on 13th and 14th August 2016.

The weekend started well, with the Snetterton Race re-scheduled for Saturday. Green started in P13 at the back of the grid and raced through the pack, which at Knockhill, notoriously hard to overtake at, Green finish in P4. Green was running in P4 in qualifying, but unfortunately, suffered a driveshaft failure meaning he slipped down the order to P6 in the closing minutes. In the second race of the weekend, Green started in P6. He climbed up the order to P3, holding onto this position until the final corner of the final lap, where he made a small mistake and came in 4th position by just 0.02 of a second. However frustrating this incident was, Green still had a good starting position for Sunday mornings race.

In the third race of the weekend, Green started in P4 and on the first lap overtook Mark Davies to get into P3.  Green then had to defend against two other drivers to maintain his position for the next 19 laps. He did so successfully with the race finishing 4 laps early because of a red flag. During the fourth and final race of the weekend, Green started on the grid in third, quickly moving into second due to a mechanical failure from Mark Davies who was to be at pole. Green maintained second place until Will Burns move onto him into the chicane. However, Green knew Burns was a fast driver so he kept up with him while defending for 3rd position against the championship leader Tom Wrigley. Green successfully defended against Tom and Carl Boardley until towards the end of the race when Ben started to build a gap against Broadley. Green finished the weekend with a double podium of two 3rd place finishes.

Ben Green said: "I'm really happy with how the weekend went. We had good pace on the Friday practice and brought that through to the race weekend. We then made up a lot of positions during the first race of the weekend and had good starting positions from having a good finish in the opening race of the weekend. I'm confident we will be able to carry this momentum forwards and hope I can be on the pace and pushing for podiums at Rockingham in a few weeks time!"

Super Green Racing Driver Ben Green from Waltham Abbey in Essex is competing this year in both the Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup and in the MSA Elite Drivers Academy.
