Robbery in Quedgeley - Police Appeal for Information UPDATED 28/6/07

Police investigating the cash-box robbery at a garage in Quedgeley this
week have released this CCTV image of two of the men they are trying to
trace in connection with the incident.Gloucester Police are appealing to the community for information which could help trace those responsible for a robbery yesterday evening.
At about 5.20 pm on Tuesday 26th June, a cash box, which contained a substantial amount of money, was stolen from a security officer while he was making a delivery to the Warner's garage in Bristol Road, Quedgeley. The security guard was not injured.
The two men who snatched the box have been described as white and were dressed in casual clothing, fluorescent jackets and hard hats. They then joined an accomplice who was waiting on the forecourt and all three drove off towards Quedgeley.
They arrived at the petrol station in a V-reg grey Ford Focus and also made off in this vehicle at speed. They are then believed to have transferred to a different vehicle near the Harvester Public House in Quedgeley, where the Ford Focus was abandoned and recovered by Police.
They are then believed to have made off in a white K-reg Vauxhall Combo van in the direction of the Olympus Business Park, it is thought that they then drove via Bristol Road and Merlin Drive to Old Elmore Lane, Quedgeley where the van was found abandoned.
Detective Inspector Paul Shorrock who is leading the investigation into the robbery said: "At this moment in time yesterday's incident is not being linked to the two recent security van robberies in Hucclecote.
"Every avenue of evidence from the previous incidents is being explored and two people are currently on bail on suspicion of conspiracy to rob in relation to the first robbery.
"A thorough investigation is now also underway into yesterday's incident, including CCTV examination and house-to-house inquiries, and we would be glad to hear from anyone with information which could help.
"Unfortunately such attacks do occur in major towns throughout the UK and unless police receive prior knowledge that they are to take place they are very difficult to prevent as they are very random and sporadic. Our crime reduction officers are, however, working with such premises.
"Fortunately the cash box seized yesterday was equipped with an anti-theft device and it is therefore likely that the money the thieves got away with will be unusable."
Officers investigating the case, who are currently following up a number of lines of inquiry, are grateful to those who have already called with information in relation to the robbery. But they are keen to hear from anyone who spotted the men in the CCTV images and has not yet spoken to them.
Anyone who witnessed the robbery or believes they saw the offenders or vehicles either before or after it took place and has not yet spoken to officers is asked to call Gloucestershire Police immediately on 0845 090 1234, quoting incident number 434 of June 26. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
