Give Us Warning to Change Our Route
| Published: 17th July 2008 22:10 |
There is a ferry that takes cars across the mouth of Poole harbour. There is a lane on the road at Sandbanks reserved for traffic queuing for the ferry. At busy times during the summer, this lane fills up with cars (no doubt to the annoyance of the rich and famous who live there).
A mile or so from the ferry terminal there is a sign saying that the delay at this point is an hour and half. Conveniently, it is by a mini-roundabout that lets you turn around and make the journey by road around the perimeter of Poole harbour instead.
A sensible idea that we could have done with on Wednesday morning on the Newent road. For the past few days the traffic has settled down - we have lost some school traffic - and delays have been modest. Yesterday morning, work at the junction required an additional set of lights that caused a significant tail back for Gloucester bound traffic. If we had been given some notice of this, some drivers may have taken a different route in.
So, some pre-warning please of things that may make a difficult journey worse.
