Police in Eastleigh are working with Eastleigh Borough Council and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service to provide advice and assistance to residents of a Bishopstoke street.
Representatives of the three agencies will be in Whalesmead Road between 10am and 2pm on Wednesday, May 21, talking to residents and offering advice to avoid becoming a victim of rogue traders and distraction burglars. Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service will also provide fire prevention advice.
The Hampshire Constabulary Bobby Trust will be attending to fit door chains, locks and mirrors, either on the day or at another arranged time, free of charge.
Police community support officers will be delivering leaflets to all homes in Whalesmead Road a few days before the event with details of the services available.
Crime Prevention Officer Barbara White said: "Distraction burglaries have taken place at a number of properties in Whalesmead Road and we have also received calls relating to suspicious activity and people in the area.
"We hope to speak with as many residents as possible on the day. If the event proves to be successful we may also target other streets in the future."
