International Success!
Eastleigh College Sport student Kay Shafford has achieved amazing results in this year's Biathle World Championships in Monaco. Kay, who is in her second year of the College's BTEC National Diploma in Sport course, came 9th overall in the 17-18 year age group.
A biathle is a continuous run, swim, run, and for Kay's age group it is run 1500m, swim 200m and run another 1500m. Kay has travelled around the UK competing in biathles on the Great Britain Tour and this year won the GB series in her age group. She was then selected to be part of the GB team to attend the World Championships in Monaco, which was attended by about 50 countries and Prince Albert of Monaco, where Kay achieved 9th place. This was a fantastic achievement, especially as she is competing against people over a year older than herself!

Kay will be competing in a biathlon in Newbury in the coming months, and when she finishes at Eastleigh College, hopes to coach and train people for biathles and biathlons, using her expertise and experience from competing and her coaching skills learnt from her course.
