Extra Cash Boost for Rowner Renewal Project

Funds from the partnership for Urban South Hamsphire will give and extra £2m to the project which will see 700 new homes built for the estate and much of the old estate bulldozed. The project will cost over £140m in total, but the extra money will be used to buy the homes of residents wishing to leave before the project begins.
There are already many homes boarded up where families have moved out, the extra cash will hopefully push the project to get under way sooner.
Building work is set to begin Spring 2009 when new homes will begin to be built on the estate.
