This summer local music tuition company Igloo Music UK is hosting a Busking Marathon - or Buskathon - to raise money for a local charity and children's hospice Naomi House.
"Naomi House is such a worthwhile charity" says DiElle, singer-songwriter and Director of Igloo Music UK, "I can't imagine what it must be like to have a terminally ill child. We are hoping that, as well as raising funds and awareness of the charity, we may be able to put on a show at the hospice itself for the children and their families. It's a fantastic opportunity for those studying music with us to be part of something particularly worthwhile".
Igloo Music UK will be staging five hours of non-stop live music at The Podium in Fareham Shopping Precinct between 11am and 4pm on Sunday 29th July and 19th of August, providing a varied programme of singers, songwriters and guitarists from the Igloo client base, In addition to Igloo clients, local hip-hop artist and rap tutor Lord Lav (http://www.lordlav.com/), Glee Club UK's Fareham club, and DiElle herself will be performing. All funds collected from the Buskathon will go to Naomi House.
As well as busking, Igloo Music UK are organising a prize draw in conjunction with other local businesses. Entry is free, however any donation made will go towards the cause. Prizes include a sports massage from Personal Fitness Pro (http://www.personalfitnesspro.co.uk/) , a dozen cup cakes from specialist children's caterer Teddy Bear Picnics (http://www.teddybearpicnics.co.uk/ ), a selection of plants from Mount Folly Nurseries (www.mountfolly.co.uk), lifetime membership and 10 sessions to Glee Club UK (http://www.gleeclubuk.com/ ), and a guitar course, a singing course and a pass to the Songwriting Festival Day on 9th September from Igloo Music UK itself (http://www.igloomusic.co.uk/) . The draw will take place at the end of the summer. To enter, simply email your name and date of birth to info@igloomusic.co.uk or speak to a member of the Igloo Team at the Buskathon.
"Please come and support these events, even if all you can give is a round of applause" says DiElle "spreading the word about Naomi House is particularly valuable too".
