Gosport Borough Council have recieved plans from Mobile phone giant Vodafone to erect a 45 foot mast in Carisbrooke Road, Peel Common
Residents are against the proposal as they are worried about potential health risks and they say it will be an eyesore.
It will be sited adjacent to Carisbrooke open space, a place for children and residents to enjoy. Residents are certain it will have an adverse impact on the area.
Vodafone spokesman Ally Stevens reassured the residents that they are not risk, also stating that it would not be much worse than other lamp posts in the area.
She said "Since 2000 there have been more than 30 independent reviews of the potential effects of signals from the base stations on health.
"These reviews have concluded there is no evidence of any adverse health effects.
"The proposed installation is similar in appearance to existing street furniture in the area"
