A three day event for food lovers is taking place at Gunwharf Quays from Friday 29th June to Sunday 1st July.
The culinary extravaganza, held in Central Square, aims to celebrate local producers and regional traders bringing people ‘Closer to Food'. Among the activities in the Cookery Theatre will be Michelin award winning chef, Jean Christophe Novelli.
Novelli, known for his work on TV shows such as Hell's Kitchen, will be bringing his passion and vast culinary knowledge to the ‘Closer to Food' event on Sunday 1st July with bespoke demonstrations, tips and advice at 11am, 2.30pm and 4.30pm.
"I am very much looking forward to meeting visitors at Gunwharf Quays' Closer to Food event and sharing my expertise and experience in the Cookery Theatre. Encouraging people to try new foods and flavours that are not only appetising but also healthy is very important to me, and it is what I try to demonstrate at my Novelli academy in Hertfordshire. Cooking doesn't have to be complicated, it's about family and friends enjoying good food together."
There will also be award winning regional producers in The Great Taste Market with over 20 local food producers
(10am-6pm Friday and Saturday, 10am-5.30pm Sunday) plus a real ale tent (12 noon to 7pm) and a cake marquee with a special area for children's biscuit decorating as a treat to keep the little ones occupied.
Peter Emery, Centre Director at Gunwharf Quays comments: "The food festivals at Gunwharf Quays have always been tremendously popular with our visitors and now in its eighth year we are delighted to welcome the event back to Portsmouth once more. The local community are invited to come and learn about cooking as well as taste, sample and buy delicacies from local businesses and savour the gastronomic delights from our very restaurants."
