Police are treating the death of a man whose body was found on a Hayling Island beach, as non-suspicious.
The body, which is believed to have been in the water for up to a week, was found by a member of the public on the beach near to the junction of Southwood Road and Bosmere Road at around 8.56am on New Year's Day.
Officers from Hampshire Constabulary's Major Investigation Team are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry in order to identify the man, who has a number of distinctive tattoos.
DI Scott Clarke said: "Although we are yet to formally identify the deceased, following a post mortem examination we have ruled out any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
"Once the man has been identified, we will pass a file to the coroner so a full inquest can take place."
