Fratton Festival of Lights

Fratton will be celebrating the Festival of Lights on Thursday 7th December, procession starts at 6:30pm.
Starting at the Royal British Legion Club in Lucknow Street the lantern parade will process down Fratton Road to St Mary’s Church.
This is the fourth time that Fratton Big Local have organised the magical winter event.
All through November people have been making lanterns in schools the community centre and other venues ready for the parade. This year’s theme is the night sky, with shooting stars and planets as well as the Fratton Fox making its annual appearance.
You can make your own lantern at home and join in the parade, but please remember they must be lit by battery torches
On the night the parade will be led by the Batala Samba Band.
At the end of the walk, in the church, there will free warm drinks and as well as other refreshments on sale plus entertainment from St Mary’s Choir, Top Banana Circus and Batala.
It’s also an opportunity to find out more about Fratton Big Local plans for the transformation of Kingston Rec and other projects as well as make your own suggestions about what Fratton Big Local should do next.
Father Bob White Chair of Fratton Big Local said, "The last 3 celebrations have all been very special – and moments when all sections of our community come together to celebrate the light we can bring in to the darkness of the world.
"One of Fratton Big Local’s aims is to celebrate our community and the Festival of light is a fun way to do it! We hope many will come and carry a lantern or simply celebrate with us!"
