After waiting for what felt like centuries, we can finally enjoy Tim Burton's weird and wonderful interpretation of Alice in Wonderland!
And it's definitely worth the hype.
Sitting in a packed-out cinema, it was obvious that the following two hours were to be filled with Burton's genius.
As soon as you've put on your 3D glasses it's like you're alongside Alice in her Wonderland, battling your way through her dreamy imagination.
Amongst a stream of household names thrown into the mix, Mia Wasikowska steps into the limelight as the innocent yet adventurous Alice.
Her dreamy performance adds an extra hint of mystery and bewilderment to the tale.
The outrageous costumes, makeup and graphics are from another world, excellently detailing every last hair, scuff, and eyelash to perfection.
Every character is beautifully represented, not a fault can be found. Each is continually amusing and adorable in their own way, certain to pull on your heartstrings.
Using an incredible array of fantastical colours, the 3D experience truly puts the ‘Wonder' into ‘Wonderland'.
Don't expect the average fairytale storyline though, around every corner lurks something dark and mysterious.
Like all of his films, Burton delivers the plot from another level.
He has read into every aspect of the story, from the smoking caterpillar, to the Mad Hatter and his weird ways.
Rated a PG, I would actually recommend only taking older youngsters, as it's not what you'd expect as a follow-up from Lewis Carroll's child friendly original.
Don't get me wrong, there is of course a happy finale at the end of this mysterious tunnel, but remember to have an open mind when watching.
Truly a floaty, mystical, and exciting visual experience, definitely a must-see in 3D.
