Winchester Fire Station
Winchester Fire Station is celebrating the overwhelming success of the station going wholetime 12 months ago.
In October 2007, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service changed the staffing system at Winchester as part of the drive to improve service delivery for Hampshire.

Winchester Blue Watch at a Road safety event at Winchester Art College.
This change resulted in an increase in fulltime firefighters from 17 to 44 and the station is now celebrating the conclusion of the first successful year.
On looking back over the past 12 months Winchester Station Manager, Dave Turner, identified some key reasons for the successful transition from Day Crewing to Continuous crewing status.
These include the depth of preparation prior to the change, the professionalism of all team members and the ability of his management team in delivering a community safety based station plan.
Station Manager Turner, added:
"The change to continuous crewing 24 hours, seven days a week has seen an improvement in response times of 10.29% which is of clear benefit to the residents of Winchester.
The extra capacity has enabled the station to complete on a yearly basis 720 free home fire safety visits, over 52 environmental visual audits, in excess of 20 road traffic collision reduction activities, as well as many other community safety activities."
The success of these strategies in making Winchester a safer place to reside and visit, has been demonstrated by the reduction in incidents attended from 762 to 620 in the last 12 months.
