This is your chance to help.
Every day new medical treatments are being developed and more operations are being carried out. So not surprisingly, we constantly need donations for these vital procedures and about 2.1 million a year, is needed to be exact.
And it's not as if it's a difficult thing to do, here are some frequently asked questions
Q. Who can become a blood donor?
A. Anyone between 18 and 60, who is in good general health.
Q. What will I get out of giving blood?
A. Mainly the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping to save lives. But you will find out your blood group and there is always the tea and biscuits after each donation!
Q How much time is involved?
A. It takes around 45 minutes to make a blood donation, and donors are normally invited to donate two or three times a year.
The actual donation is supervised by a doctor or a nurse, will take about 10 minutes, and then after 20 minutes' rest and light refreshment you will be able to go home or back to work.
