Take some time out to vote
| Published: 17th April 2007 14:14 |
Voting takes place on Thursday 3 May and polling stations are now open from 7am to 10pm. Because of elections taking place for Aldenham Parish and Elstree and Borehamwood Town Councils, the counts will not take place until Friday 4 May, with the results expected on that afternoon.
It is estimated that on average it takes just 20 minutes from door to polling booth for someone to make their mark on polling day so take your time to make your voice heard.
Ruth Garner, Hertsmere's Electoral Registration Officer said: "Taking around 20 minutes out of your day to make your mark and vote in the local elections will help ensure that your local services are managed and delivered in the way you and your family want them to be. Local government wards are smaller than parliamentary constituencies and every vote counts, so whether it is local education, speed bumps, a new sports centre or recycling of rubbish that is top of your agenda, use 20 minutes to make a difference on 3 May."
