Hertsmere is entering its biggest team for this year's Hertfordshire Youth Games, which is taking place on 12 and 13 May at Hertfordshire University
The team includes 130 children, aged between nine and 15, who will be participating in athletics, badminton, girls' football, netball, basketball, rugby and table tennis. The teams were chosen from over 300 children who participated in trials across the borough.
Hertsmere Borough Council and Cardif Pinnacle have joined forces to enter a record number of local children into the games, which will have teams from ten borough councils across Hertfordshire.
Paul Backman, Sport Development Officer who organised Hertsmere's team, said: "The event aims to get children more active and all participants will be encouraged to join their local sports clubs after the event."
Pauline Duggan, Media Relations Manager for Cardif Pinnacle, said: "The games are about taking part and having fun with sports. The trials were an excellent opportunity to try out new sports and get actively involved with local sports groups. You never know, we might have discovered Britain's next big sporting hero."
Paul adds: "I'd like to thank Borehamwood Football Club and Dame Alice Owens School for the free use of the facilities for training and to thank all our team managers for their continued help and encouragement."
