Arsenal thank young volunteers for their IMPACT

Four students from Hertswood School in Borehamwood have been thanked for their contribution to the IMPACT community sports project.
Daryl Atkins, Marc Asamoah, Lloyd Amponsen and Fred Lamazani from year 12 have been helping local primary school children with their football and literacy skills as part of the IMPACT project which is co-ordinated by Arsenal FC in partnership with Hertsmere Borough Council. With the help of their teacher, Mr Engwell, and Paul Thompson, from Arsenal's community scheme, the students have been delivering a 45 minute session of football and a 45 minute session of literacy once a week to year five pupils from Shenley Primary School, Clore Shalom School and Cowley Hill School.
At a presentation to mark the end of term, the four students were given letters of commendation from Arsenal as well as a T-shirt and the new Arsenal handbook.
The project has been running for 11 weeks on Wednesday afternoons at the double club at Arsenal's Bell Lane training complex and will resume in September.
Helen Bottomley, Community Sports Officer at Hertsmere Borough Council, said: "The IMPACT students have been fantastic. Their time and effort is really appreciated by the children, the coaches and everyone else involved with the project.
"It has been great to see their confidence grow over the eleven weeks and their contribution has been invaluable. We would also like to extend our thanks to Hertswood School for providing the transport and helping in getting the scheme running."
