Uno Bus Timetable Changes - 29 August 2006

Published: 30th August 2006 16:17
New vehicles for inter-campus shuttle

During the Autumn from the start of the University term the ‘shuttle’ will be extended to the newly constructed Park & Ride facility at Angerlands (off Southway, South Hatfield).
A high frequency service (every five to six minutes) will be operated on term days linking Angerlands, College Lane campus and de Havilland campus.

The service will be operated with five brand new purpose built single deck buses (Mercedes Citaro) with plenty of standing room and two door operation to speed up boarding and alighting times.

New route 601 will operate as follows:

Welwyn Garden City, Stanborough, Hatfield Business Park, UH de Havilland Campus, Oakland College, Fleetville and St Albans. Many new or improved links will be provided by this service including:

Direct links from Welwyn Garden City to the fast growing Hatfield Business Park.

New Service for Broadwater Road area of Welwyn Garden City (including the new UH Bio park development.)

Faster journey times for passengers travelling from Welwyn Garden City through to St Albans.

Links between the Oaklands College campuses at St Albans, Oaklands, Acrewood Way and Welwyn Garden City.

Improved all day link between St Albans (City Centre and Rail Station) and Hatfield Business Park. [This service is financially supported by Oaklands College, University of Hertfordshire and Hertfordshire County Council.

New links to Hatfield Campus

Brand new bus service 606 will provide new links from Jersey Farm and Marshallwick area of St Albans to the de Havilland and College Lane Campus in Hatfield. The route will continue to Hatfield Town Centre and then onto the Birchwood area through to the Tesco store at Oldings Corner.

This will also be the first time these areas have had a direct service to the University at College Lane. This new service will save time (and money!) for UH staff and students living in these areas.

Service 606 will operate every hour throughout the daytime Monday to Friday.

More buses between College Lane and Hatfield Rail Station

In response to growing demand bus 603 will now operate every 10 minutes between UH College Lane, Hatfield Town Centre and Rail Station. (Monday to Friday term times)

Through journeys on bus 603 (to/from Welwyn Garden City) will be revised to operate every 20 minutes during the day and will be extended from UH de Havilland Campus to Hatfield Business Park. (T-Mobile and TK Maxx)

Later journeys to Queensbury on bus 614

There will be two later journeys on the popular 614 route to Barnet, Edgware and Queensbury to enable students from this area to make best use of the facilities at the College Lane Campus.

More buses on Sundays for the 602 route

To cater for the increased number of shoppers travelling to St Albans and the new retail complex at London Colney an hourly service will be introduced between these points for most of the day.

In addition there will extra buses between the Rail Station and Bishops Rise in the early evening period for the benefit of students returning to Hatfield at this time.

More buses for route 634

To cater for the increased loadings on this motorway service two brand new single deck buses will be introduced from early September along with an existing double deck vehicle for the busy morning journey from Stevenage to Hatfield.

In addition the route in Stevenage will be revised so as to include Pin Green, The Oval to make the service more accessible to customers living in this area.

Additional journey: Potters Bar to Hatfield on route 610

In response to public demand an additional bus will operate from Potters Bar rail station to Hatfield at 0840.
