This scheme is for people living in Borehamwood or Shenley who do not have transport of their own and are unable to use public transport because of mobility problems or other special needs.
Requested journeys must be concerned with health care i.e. hospital appointments, visits to sick relatives or friends, dental / opticians appointments, visits to support groups, etc.
There is a minimum charge for a single journey and for trips over 3 miles passengers are charged 40p per mile. Journeys can take time to organise and notice must be given atleast 3 working days in advance.
Wheelchair Accessible Car:
Available to hire for residents of Hertsmere who are wheelchair users. Drivers will be taught how to use wheelchair restaints. Milage cost of 40p per mile. Volunteer drivers may be available for residents of Borehamwood and Shenley.
Shoppers Scheme:
Available to Hertsmere residents with mobility problems. People are picked up from their homes by minibus and taken to their local supermarkets. Scheme operates Monday to Friday. A return trip will cost £2.00-£3.00. Each area has a designated day(s).
