FREE CRIME PREVENTION ‘ON SALE' TO SHOPPERS IN WALTHAM CROSS
WALTHAM CROSS shoppers will be able to get advice on how to further secure their property when out in the town centre, thanks to a crime prevention day that is being held next Wednesday (December 8).
Members of the Waltham Cross Safer Neighbourhood Team will be in the town centre between 11am and 3pm, reminding shoppers to take simple crime prevention measures to keep criminals at bay.
Tackling theft in the town centre is one of the team's locally agreed neighbourhood priorities, and they are working hard to reduce the number of offences by deterring criminals and catching those responsible for offences. As well as holding this event, they regularly carry out targeted patrols in the area.
Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Rosa Mulandi of the Waltham Cross Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: "In the run-up to the festive period, more people are out shopping, which can lead to an increase in pick-pocketing. We want to prevent these offences and shoppers can make a big difference themselves by following simple crime prevention measures. This includes women ensuring their handbags are closed properly and keeping their purses at the bottom of a closed shopping bag. Men should keep their wallets in their front pockets, rather than the back.
"We also have a limited number of purses bells, which ring if somebody tries to take a purse, to give away, so please come along and see us next Wednesday - it'll be a great way to get some handy crime prevention tips to help keep your belongings safe."
Shoppers can get further crime prevention advice by calling 0845 33 00 222 or by clicking on here.
