Responsible for building regulations, environmental health, housing, leisure, local planning, minor roads, tourism, allotments, waste collection etc.
The Community Development Team works to support groups and organisations in developing, creating and supporting opportunities to enable communities to make their area a better place to live, work and prosper. The Hitchin Community Development Officer is Margaret Bracey (01462 474830; 07824 600079; margaret.bracey@north-herts.gov.uk) and she will pleased to hear from a group or organisation who may benefit from support.
The Hitchin district councillors (see below) also welcome community groups and young people to come to the Area Commitee Meetings and tell them about their organisation and how they help or would like to help their community. There is also the Town Talks which take place prior to the Area Commitee Meetings, which give residents an opportunity to discuss with their councillors, informally, any issues. The next Town Talk and Area Committe Meeting are due to be held on Tuesday 18 March.
