Nursery & Junior School - Apply Now for Places Next Year

They may only be toddling now, but children born between 1 September 2005 and 31 August 2006 will be ready to take the giant step into nursery from next September.
If your child was born between these dates and you'd like them to take up a place at a pre-school or nursery, it's already time to apply.
By logging on to the Herts Direct website, parents can browse Hertfordshire County Council's starting nursery booklet and then apply online for a place. Last year, 93 per cent of Hertfordshire parents applied online and the majority found it quick, easy and convenient. Alternatively, parents and carers can call 01438 737500 for a paper booklet.
All parents and carers of children eligible to start nursery from September 2009 should receive a leaflet in the post reminding them of the 20 January 2009 application deadline. Many nurseries and pre-schools offer up to five free two-and-a-half hour nursery sessions each week during term time. Last year, almost 98 per cent of applicants were given places at one of their three preferred nurseries. Anyone applying for private or independent nurseries should contact the school direct.
Keith Emsall, Executive Member for Education commented: "The first years of a child's school life set the foundations for future success. We want to help parents choose the best nursery for their child so that their early experiences are happy and they love learning for life."
It's also time to plan ahead if your child attends an infant school which is paired with a linked junior school. Those parents and carers affected will be given a Joining Junior School booklet by their child's current school. Online applications are encouraged, with a deadline of 21 January. Last year 99.5 per cent of applicants were allocated one of their three preferred junior or middle school places.
