Two men have been charged for drugs offences following a search warrant executed on Tuesday September 9 at two properties in North Herts.
Officers from the Eastern Area Tactical Team executed the search warrants at Mulberry Way in Hitchin and Boswell Drive in Ickleford, where cannabis and cannabis cultivating equipment was found at both properties.
Four people were arrested at the address in Ickleford. Adam Dearman, aged 23, from Boswell Drive was later charged with possession with intent to supply class C drugs and production of class C drugs. He appeared at Stevenage Magistrates Court on Thursday (September 11) and has been released on bail with conditions.
Jamie Davidson, aged 19, from Mulberry Way, was arrested and charged with possession and cultivation class C drugs. He has been police bailed with conditions and is due to appear at Stevenage Magistrates on October 7.
Detective Inspector Gerard McDonald, from the Tactical Team at Stevenage Police Station, said: "We carried out these raids based on strong intelligence obtained by officers from the Tactical Team. A fair amount of cannabis and cultivating equipment was found at these addresses, which is a good result for us.
"I hope this sends out a clear warning to those taking part in other similar criminal activity that Hertfordshire Constabulary has a zero tolerance approach to drug dealing and we will continue to pro-actively target those suspected of being involved in such crimes.
"It is also important local residents report incidents to us and provide us with information about any suspicious activity in their neighbourhood that they think may be drug related so we can deal accordingly."
He added: "Hertfordshire Constabulary takes a proactive approach to prevent reoffending and when people enter into custody after being arrested for drugs offences, they are referred to the Hertfordshire Drug Interventions Programme (DIP)."
Anyone with information about drug dealing should contact the Eastern Area Intelligence Unit information line on 01438 757200 or Crimestoppers (free and confidential) 0800 555111.
