The programme is shaping up for this year's Hitchin Festival, which will run from Friday 26 June until Monday 20 July.
Some regular favourites have already confirmed, including Rhythms of the World, Ghost Walks, Film Nights and Schools in Concert. The everpopular Anthony Slinn art lecture will feature Constable and Turner; there will be the usual series of free Lunchtime Concerts; and the Hitchin Historical Society is organising ‘The Story of Lavender' talk at Cadwell Farm and an evening of previously unseen film footage from the Hitchin Archives.
Concerts include the Orpheus Choir, Vivace, Cambridge Guitar Orchestra, an organ concert and a piano recital by Masa Tayama.
For Bastille Day, top jazz combo Vipers Dream will be playing a tribute to the music of Quintet du Hot Club de France.
There will be plenty of drama too, with an open-air production of ‘The Tempest' from Big Spirit Youth Theatre, ‘Gigi' at The Queen Mother Theatre and The Glen Miller Mystery at The Market Theatre.
The Hitchin Festival Box Office opens at 27 Churchyard on Saturday 8 June. Programmes will be available at the end of May - to go on the mailing list email info@htci.org.uk or visit the Hitchin Festival website for further information.
