Change of Venue for Hitchin Cricket Club Fundraiser (24 August 2008)

A message from PPProductions:
Due to circumstances beyond our control it has been necessary to change the venue for this Sunday's event (see poster below) to the Sir John Barleycorn pub on Oughtonhead Way.
Although Hitchin Cricket Club posted the licence application to both NHDC and the police on August 4th - more than 10 working days' notice - it unfortunately wasn't received by either party. The Post Office is looking into the matter as other important letters posted on the same day and at the same post box have also gone missing!
NHDC has informed the Cricket Club that the law states that unless the application is actually received then the licence cannot be given, despite records of emails sent by the club confirming that the application had been posted. The Cricket Club has been threatened with a £20,000 fine and possible 6 months' imprisonment IF it goes ahead with the event.
As a sponsor for the Cricket Club, the Sir John Barleycorn has therefore agreed to host the event and is asking for a minimum donation of £5 to try to recover the cost of the three bands already booked (see details below). It is hoped that not only will these costs be recovered but that the purpose of this event will still be achieved, ie to raise money and awareness for the Cricket Club.
And so the show will still go on! It will start at 3pm and there should still be a BBQ organised by the Cricket Club itself.

Event organised by PPProductions (Tony Phillips, Vetran Entertainer etc, and Ron Piper, licensee of Sir John Barleycorn).
PPProductions has put on events for Hitchin Cricket Club over the last two years to raise awareness of the Club's existence and help raise the club's profile within Hitchin. As a result of these events, Hitchin Cricket Club has been able to purchase several items for the club, including a new electronic scoreboard that was officially opened by Sachin Tendulkar. PPProductions hopes the event on 24th August will prove just as popular and succesful as previous events.
