Pinehill Hospital Opens Its Doors to St Andrews School, Hitchin

A 'ride' on an x-ray table, a turn on a 'wobble board' and playing with the working model of a knee. These were just a few of the treats in store when children from St Andrews School in Hitchin walked the 50 yards up the road to visit Pinehill Hospital.
The trip was arranged as part of their health awareness week and the year six children spent time in the Physiotherapy and the Radiology departments.
Christine Scott, Marketing Manager at Pinehill said "the children were extremely well behaved, and loved hearing about the variety of jobs at the hospital and all the different operations and procedures that take place here. They were intrigued to discover that an operation was in progress in the theatre directly above them!"
As well as learning about the hospital, the children learnt about the history of the building that dates back to the 1800s.
Mrs. Cernik, Head Teacher at St Andrews said " Although this was a great experience for the children, the teachers thoroughly enjoyed it as well! I would like to thank Pinehill for this opportunity".
Christine is happy to repeat the exercise for other Junior schools and hopes they will take her up on the offer.
