Take the Train!

Children love going on the train, and train travel may well be cheaper than you think. Check out the following information about family and children's tickets:
- Under-5s travel free.
- Children aged 5 to 15 can travel for half the full fare.
- Children aged 5 to 15 travelling with an adult off peak can travel for just £2 each return across the whole First Capital Connect network.
- Family Railcards cost just £20/year and give discounts for adults and children travelling together - children get 60% off and adults save 1/3 on most rail fares throughout Britain. Up to four adults and four children can get discounted travel with the one card (they don't have to be related).
- Young Persons Railcards give reductions for 16 to 25 year olds.
First Capital Connect's website has some great destination ideas, and you can download activities to entertain children on the journey at www.trakkies.co.uk. Or if you prefer the sound of a sponsored silence - wiith money raised going to The Railway Children, which supports street children living alone and at risk on the streets - then visit the Family Railcards website to download a sponsor form.
