Singers' Competition Call

Hitchin's imposing Tilehouse Street Baptist Church (right) is the prestigious venue for the ‘Voice of Hertfordshire' 2008 competition for singers resident in Hertfordshire.
The competition is aimed at high calibre singers both professional and amateur specialising in opera, classical pieces and the more highbrow songs from the shows.
Event Director Kevin Dalton explained "This competition is designed to be a ‘posh X-Factor' and the judges anticipate they will be able to select finalists of exceptional quality.
"There is a wealth of classical talent in Hertfordshire which deserves to be recognised more widely, and with interest already being generated in the world of classical singing, this could be the route to stardom for a lucky Hertfordshire singer".
The competition is open to choral or opera singers, those studying music at school or college, singers with a theatre or amateur opera group, or simply talented singers with a classical style who haven't found their performing niche. Entrants must be 16 or over and application forms can be downloaded from 'The Voice Of Herts' website. The closing date for applications is 30th September 2008.
The competition will start with auditions at the Tilehouse Street Baptist Church followed by heats leading to a Gala Final on 6th December 2008. Tickets to the gala final will cost £6 and will be available from The Hitchin Initiative, The Voice of Herts website and Tilehouse Street Baptist Church. The Voice of Hertfordshire will benefit local causes in an incredibly positive way - it is an end user donator and gives directly to the causes.
