Reminder to Put Your Food Waste in Your Brown Bin
| Published: 4th June 2008 19:57 |
All households with brown recycling bins are asked to put their food waste in the brown bin.
This was effective from Monday 2 June and you should by now have received a letter explaining what can be included and how to wrap rubbish securely. The changes will mean less waste going to landfill and generating greenhouse gases and more being used for garden compost.
Cllr Lynda Needham, Portfolio Holder for Waste and Recycling, said: "This is a key step to help us all recycle more, protect the environment and control the growing cost of disposing of waste."
NHDC's 'Recycle Roadshow' will be visiting Hitchin town square this Saturday (7 June) from 9.30am to 3pm to answer any questions you may have. You can also find out more about the new food waste collections by visiting the NHDC website.
