With the cross country season behind them and championship defended successfully, it was time for Hitchin based Team Trisports to turn their attentions to multi-sport events. Mark Harris (pictured) who had won individual honours the previous week at the Sunday Cross Country League championship decider raced the Monster Duathlon a 5k run, 25k bike, 5k run and finished a superb 11th overall in 1:20:43. Also racing her first Duathlon of the season Liz Wood was 93rd overall in 1:52:40 around the picturesque course in Ely.
Further afield, top super vet Brian White demonstrated excellent early season form with a win in the male vet 55 category over the standard Duathlon distance of 10k run/40k bike and 5k run which he completed in 2:21:01. The race , delayed from earlier in the month due to snow, was around the grounds of the Spencer Family Estate at Althorp in Northants
Jackie Perry and Sam Tophill travelled to Woodford Green for the Roding Half Marathon and rekindled competition with their old club mate Roger Biggs, Fairlands Valley Spartan long distance legend. Perry managed to hold off the classic Biggs late challenge to finish in 1:47:00 to collect FV50 bronze with Tophill frustratingly just pipped in 1:50:37.
Helen Shulver continued her assault on the 5k distance with her 13th park run at Sheffield Hallam in a seasons best of 22:08 for 4th female. This result built on her excellent PB performance at the Southport Mad Dog 10k from the previous week in a time of 45:04.
