The Longest Journey - From Slavery to Abolition

Published: 25th September 2008 13:17
Hitchin Museum is proud to host this important touring exhibition, from the East of England Museum hub.

The exhibition, running from 27th September to 1st November, explores how the people and places of Essex and Hertfordshire were involved in the slave trade and the abolition movement. There is also additional material from Lowewood Museum, Epping Forest District Museums Service, Hertfordshire Archives and from Hitchin Museum's own collection.

This thought provoking exhibition includes documents, video, interactives, art and evocative original objects.

Hitchin Museum (Paynes Park) opens 10am to 5pm daily except Wednesday and Sunday.

For further information please contact the Curator, David Hodges, on 01462 434476 or david.hodges@north-herts.gov.uk
