What's On When at the Market Theatre: October 2008 to March 2009
| Published: 9th October 2008 23:35 |
The Stormy Night (a comedy / scary)
The Market Theatre (Sun Street) presents the first comedy/scary since the popular ‘The Ghost' was presented in the year 2000!
A very funny plot laced with moments of fear to make you bury into the person sitting next to you. A traditional setting; creepy house, a dark and windy night and an owner that looks remarkably like everyone's image of the young Dracula! Although extremely funny there are instances of shock and suspension that will ensure those who like to scream in fear leave completely satisfied.
Starring popular Market Theatre actors Glyn Doggett and Kelly Bibb this is definitely one not to miss.
Opens Friday 17th October and runs Thursday to Saturday until 22nd November 2008. Performances at 8pm (Thursday & Friday) and 7pm (Saturday)
Queen Victoria (an Historical one woman show)
Due to popular demand the Market Theatre has continued this superb show, starring the talented Sheena Boyce, following its run during the summer.
Set on the day that the young Queen Victoria proposed to Albert, she takes her mind off the approaching moment by telling the audience a little about her intriguing life from her birth to the present day.
Opens Wednesday 22nd October and runs every Wednesday at 8pm until 12th November 2008.
Peter Panties and Windy! (The Adult Panto)
The Market Theatre is proud to present their 13th Adult Panto. Set in the stylish and outlandish atmosphere of Noel Coward's gay and witty London, this show is full of sexual innuendo, mistaken identity, sexual innuendo, confusion, sexual innuendo and silly gags. The show climaxes in a farcical run-around that will defy belief!
A must for all lovers of a risqué night out, please be aware that this show does contain a certain amount of cleavage, the occasional swear word and some unbelievable acting! Book now to avoid disappointment, as this show will sell fast!

Quibble & Squabble's Magical Christmas Eve (Kids Christmas Show)
This is an enchanting and fun packed story about two silly and useless witches, Quibble and Squabble, who do nothing but argue, and do not understand the true value of sharing. As they make their separate plans for Christmas day, disaster is only averted by the children in the audience! Great fun for children of all ages but specifically aimed at 3 to 8 year olds.
OPENS Saturday 6th December 2008. CLOSES Saturday 10th January 2009.
Sat 6th Dec @ 2pm
Sat 13th, 20th & 27th Dec @ 11.30am & 1.30pm

Weekenders Christmas Special (Live Soap Opera)
Yes! They said they would and they have! A Christmas Special of that ridiculous Summer Soap Opera that has been steadily gathering a cult following ‘Weekenders'! The same mix of absurdity and comedy that was featured on Hertbeat FM and Three Counties Radio. Doesn't matter if you managed to catch any of the eight episodes that took place this year or not, for the story line never really made sense anyhow! Set in the chaotic Café Operetta, and laced with huge and unbelievable characters, this is a great way of finding out what all the fuss has been about. A short half-hour show at an unbelievably cheap admission price!
