Discounted home composters available for residents
Composting garden waste and vegetable peelings at home is the most environmentally friendly way of disposing of kitchen and garden waste and Broxbourne residents have the opportunity to compost their waste using a discounted home composter.

Composter units start at £19 including delivery and residents are invited to club together with their family or a neighbour to make the most of a time limited offer where they can buy one composter and get a second one half price. The closing date for this offer is 31 March 2011.
Composting at home creates a free, nutrient rich food to help the garden grow. It is also a cheap, natural and environmentally friendly way of reducing residual waste. Additionally, the lower levels of waste produced will help to reduce the number of purple refuse sacks households use to one a week, saving money in the long term.
For successful compost it is advised to add fruit and vegetable peelings, teabags, cardboard, egg boxes, grass cuttings and hedge trimmings. Residents are advised to avoid using meat, dairy products, plate scrapings, diseased plants, cooked food, glass, metals or animal litter.
