New Kerbside Recycling Scheme Introduced from August 2011
| Published: 2nd July 2011 16:31 |

Since November 2010, the Council has been piloting a new kerbside recycling service in selected areas of Cheshunt and Broxbourne. Householders on the pilot were provided with a black kerbside box for their plastic bottles and cans, with their existing green box used for paper and glass. A survey of a sample of households from the pilot area showed that the majority of residents were satisfied with the new scheme.
The new kerbside service will allow the Council to reduce the number of collection vehicles needed (thereby reducing carbon emissions), increase the number of flats with a kerbside recycling service, and stop the need to purchase and distribute clear sacks each year.
Residents will receive their black kerbside box during July, ready for the August start. For more information about the new scheme please visit the webpages or contact the Helpline on 01992 785577.
