A new children's TV channel!

PUSHCHAIR PREMIERE: WORLD'S FIRST ‘BUGGY-IN'

Over 100 toddlers revved up, rolled in and parked up their pushchairs for a drive-in screening with a difference today. They were attending the world's first ‘buggy-in' - a unique event held by Cartoonito, a new kids channel on Sky 622 to mark the UK premiere of its first transmission.

Instead of teenagers pulling up in their convertible cars hoping for acuddle in the back seat, the large audience of two to five year olds giggled away to some of their favourite shows such as Hi-5 and Barney - and were delighted when a certain purple dinosaur made a special guest appearance and started a sing-a-long.

Jo Barlow from Cartoonito comments:

"We wanted to celebrate the channel launch by recognising the audience that matters most to us - the kids! There were a lot of excited children shouting, squealing and singing along and all enjoyed the premiere - from the comfort of their own pushchairs."

Cartoonito initially launched as a block on Cartoon Network Too in September 2006, broadcasting between the hours of 6am and 3pm, and includes a soft learning French element hosted by six characters called the Cartoonitos (three English, three French).

The new Cartoonito channel will be available exclusively on Sky 622 and its aim is to be Bright, Happy and Friendly! The channel is packed with shows to be enjoyed by both preschoolers and their mums. Cartoonito exclusive content includes shows ‘Cartoonito Karaoke' and ‘Go and Get a Grown Up', both of which encourage personal development and interaction.

Self-appointed TV Critic, Jake Fox, 3 and half from Surrey says: "Cartoonito is a fun new channel, it has my favourite characters Barney and Hi-5 and we learnt some French!"

Jo Barlow continues:

"It was a good event for what is believed to be a world first - stewards didn't have to be called in for crowd control and there were no tailbacks reported as the happy crowd were driven away by their mums and dads."
