Exhibition Of Contemporary Hand-Made Artist's Prints To Tour the Highlands

Highland Print Studio, in collaboration with The Highland Council's Exhibitions Unit has put together an exhibition of contemporary artwork celebrating the diversity of work that can be created using traditional printmaking techniques.

The Original Print exhibition will open at Inverness Museum & Art Gallery on Saturday 23rd August before touring to the Iona Gallery in Kingussie and the Swanson Gallery in Thurso.  It features works of etchings, screenprints, relief prints and lithographs created by artist printmakers based in the Highlands and beyond.

The show also includes displays of the equipment and tools used to create the artwork and explains some of the techniques, giving an insight into the fascinating world of printmaking.

Work on show includes:

  • ‘The Rosslyn Experience' - a woodcut of the apprentice pillar at Rosslyn Chapel by Steven Campbell
  • ‘Playing for the Jersey' - 20 linocuts in the artist's series of images representing every Scottish Football League club by John McNaught.
  • ‘Whispering Hag' - woodcut from ‘The Girl, the Boy and the Hag', a modern gothic fairytale written and illustrated by Adrian Wiszniewski
  • ‘Petrolia' - etching from a series on the Cromarty Firth area by .

The exhibition will run in Inverness Museum and Art Gallery until 20 September and admission is free. Opening times are Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm.
