Setting the bar high in Alderton
Saturday 19 May saw the green pocket of Alderton Village Field come alive with fun and activity as the local community celebrated its permanent protection.
The Alderton Have a Field Day was one of the first of hundreds that are taking place across the UK this summer – and it set a high standard!
Despite the British weather’s best efforts, there was a fantastic atmosphere. Bunting flapped, kites were made and flown and cakes were eaten.
“We truly had a wonderful day and for the team who have worked so hard on the field and to secure its future, it was a fitting celebration.”
The inhabitants of Alderton, of all ages, delved eagerly into the goodies sent by Fields in Trust: “The Goodie box was hugely appreciated” with the kite making kits and slap bands proving particularly popular with the younger ones. The older Have a Field Day-ers opted for a more sedate sticker or rosette to indicate their involvement.
The smiles say it all!
“We had a fabulous day. Lots of people came. We had a special blessing for the field followed by the unveiling of the plaque and then tea and lots of games.”
“If every one of your Field Days goes as well as ours you will have had a very successful Jubilee year.”
