RE: CAN YOU HELP SOLVE A MYSTERY?

Crows are the most likely culprits regarding the discovery of chicken eggs in and around Petts Wood. We had a similar experience some years ago when our garage, garden and greenhouses were splattered with hens' eggs.
On seeing an egg drop from the skies whilst out in the garden, I looked up to see a large crow on its way back to its nest in the trees at the bottom of our garden.
Apparently crows and other winged carrion are notorious for raiding poultry farms and carrying off eggs for some considerable distance. This is usually back to their nest for their young, or to gorge on themselves. It is possible that when nearing their nests the birds open their claws to enable them to land, forgetting they are holding an egg in them.
Currently, our local crows seem more intent on annihilating the local pigeon population and eating them!
What do you think?
