Lancashire Foundation donates £15,000 to Bromley youth charity

Published: 13th November 2008 20:12

JusBOn Friday 14th November at 4pm Michael Connor, General Counsel for Lancashire Insurance Company (UK) Limited, an insurance company that forms part of the Lancashire Insurance Group, and the Chairman of the UK Donations Committee of the company's charitable body, the Lancashire Foundation, will present £15,000 to Bromley youth charity JusB.

JusB's founder and Chief Executive, Rachel Archer, will formally accept the cash award on behalf of the charity, who are situated at 51 College Road, Bromley.

"The Lancashire Foundation award will be go towards our core running costs to keep the whole of JusB going," explained Rachel. "Very few donations we receive give unrestricted funding which makes this cash award even more special to us. It means we can use the money to pay for everyday essentials like our rent, utility bills and insurance costs."

JusB needs over £160,000 each year to carry on providing the high quality provision for young people in Bromley. Approximately £40,000 of this is generated by voluntary contributions from individuals and organisations. All of JusB's services are provided free of charge but the services still have to be paid for, largely through donations and fundraising activities.

Rachel concluded by saying: "We are constantly hearing in our news about the rise of gun and knife crime amongst young people and I am a firm believer in giving young people somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to, to turn this trend around. Charities like JusB are giving young people the support they need but we can't do this on our own, we need more businesses, like Lancashire, to have the foresight to invest in the future lives of young people."

JusB is an independent charity which serves the young people of Bromley. It was established in 2003 with the vision of providing a brighter future for young people.
